"Globalizing" Essential Questions

Global Citizenship

With the echoes of World War I still ringing, President Woodrow Wilson declared: “We are citizens of the world. The tragedy of our times is that we do not know this.”
In the spirit of Wilson’s hope for humanity, UNICEF proudly offers their new Global Citizenship units for grades 3-5 and 9-12. These units—which each include four Common Core-aligned lessons, student handouts, and activity sheets—explore what it means to be a “global citizen,” the rights and responsibilities that come with global citizenship, and how individuals can take meaningful action to fulfill those responsibilities and make a positive difference in their communities and the world.
